Insulated glass combines panes, spacers, coatings and sealed cavities as one coordinated system.

A clearer decision

Choose by outcome, not product code.

Different rooms and elevations can need different glass. This five-step path keeps every decision connected to your project.

  1. 1Build the unitChoose double or triple glazing where compatible.
  2. 2Manage heatCoordinate coatings, gas fill, climate and exposure.
  3. 3Shape the viewBalance light, tint, glare and privacy.
  4. 4Meet the applicationAddress safety and bird-friendly needs early.
  5. 5Confirm compatibilityMatch the build-up to the exact product and size.

01 · Insulated-glass construction

Performance begins with the complete unit.

Pane count, cavity width, spacer, gas fill and coatings work together. Select either diagram to inspect every layer.

Two panes

Double glazing

A sealed cavity separates two panes. Coatings, argon and spacer choices can be coordinated around the selected system.

Three panes

Triple glazing

A third pane creates another sealed cavity. Availability and thickness depend on frame, size and configuration.

02 · Thermal and solar performance

Match the coating to the performance goal.

Choose a goal below to compare each coating. Orientation, shading, glass area and room use all influence the final choice.

03 · Tint, daylight and privacy

See every option. Read every name.

Tint changes colour and solar appearance; privacy glass reduces a clear direct view. Browse each collection and enlarge its source chart.

04 · Application-specific glass

Different requirements. Clearly explained.

Identify special requirements early so they can be coordinated with size, coatings and product compatibility.

Impact behaviour

Tempered safety glass

What it does
Heat treatment increases strength and changes how the glass breaks.
Where it is considered
Doors, areas near floors or tubs, and other safety-glazing locations.
Confirm before ordering
Follow the project and applicable building codes.

Interlayer construction

Laminated glass

What it does
A bonded interlayer helps retain broken glass in the opening.
Where it is considered
Projects with safety, security, acoustic or protective objectives.
Confirm before ordering
Interlayer, thickness and IGU compatibility are project-specific.

Visible surface pattern

Bird-friendly glass

What it does
Visible markers help birds recognize glazing as a barrier.
Where it is considered
Large glazed elevations, reflected landscapes and bird-sensitive locations.
Confirm before ordering
Pattern, surface and spacing must meet the project requirement.

05 · Final confirmation

Bring the room, elevation and product together.

Glass technologies are not automatically available in every thickness, size, series or configuration. Morrison will help confirm the approved package for your opening.
